~ Personality: Gringoire is a shallow, selfish and discriminating man, who sees the world in black and white. He does not forgive or thinks twice about something he considers bad, and will not hesitate to hurt people to his benefit.
He has a nice side, but does only show it to his allies or his superiors, and even then he might suddenly think badly of you for no apparent reason.

So, in short, he really is not a nice person.

~ Biography: Born into nobility and aristocracy in the heart of Normandy, taught about the life and ways of the noble caste, Gringoire was always led to believe it was his right to be superior to everyone else that was not a part of aristocracy. God choose his place in the world, and it so happened it was above the normal foot folk. As a child, Gringoire never spent too much time with his parents (his mother having died when giving him birth), seeing as all high noble children were to be taught in war craft and other court practices with peers.
The boy created an aloof personality like most kids his age, keeping distance from real affection. He did not need affection anyway, he found out, when he could get everything he wanted with money. Or in other cases, with threats.
With a father as Templar, who could deny him anything?

Gringoire bears a name attached to the marshes his main residence is, used to having more territory in the wetlands, but sold most of it thanks to the smart words of his ex-fiancé. His main income come from the taxes from the civilians living on his lands in Normandy.
